This guide is for bot masters, server admins, or server owners who are setting up the Levels Plugin for the first time.
Set up:
Visit your server dashboard
Select the Levels plugin and enable
You are all set! Your members will now gain 15 to 25 experience when they chat.
However, there is a lot of customization to consider. In the following sections, we will be covering how to use the settings for your community's needs.
Customization:
1. Leveling Up
There are 4 options.
Disabled: Simply, when a member levels up, Mee6 will not post at all.
Current Channel: When a member levels up, the message appears within the channel they had recently messaged in.
Private Message: Mee6 will directly message the user.
Custom Channel: You can dedicate a specific channel to the announcement. You may find some communities naming their channel "Rank Up" or "Leveling".
Level Up Message announcement.
Give your message a personality, a vibe that fits within your community.
Ensure your message includes {player}, which will ping the member when they level up, and {level} will show what level they have reached.
2. Role rewards
Note: This option can only work in servers with Premium features.
Role Rewards Type:
Stack Previous Rewards: The member can have multiple roles as they level up.
Remove Previous Rewards: The member will lose their previous roles as they achieve the next role reward.
Here is an example of what role rewards can look like.
There is also the option to remove roles when demoted. You can consider having this enabled if a moderator/admin would use the give experience command incorrectly, abuse a certain method of gaining experience, or simply may want to change how your leveling system works in the future.
Note: The only way experience can be removed is through the remove-xp command.
3. Server Rank Card
Your members, by default, can use /rank to check their rank and level in Discord.
As a free member, you are able to change the color of the text.
With Premium Mee6, you are able to customize the background image of /rank command.
4. XP Rate
You can change the rate at which all your members gain experience by moving the slider.
You may want to use this to slow down progression in the community levels, or to speed them up, depending on how.
5 & 6. Channel and Role restrictions
Channels can be restricted in the server dashboard so that spam channels, such as bot command channels, can be set to not give any experience.
You can also restrict roles from gaining experience. Helpful if you have some sort of punishment role or if one of your members wants to opt out of leveling up.
Both of these have to be set up beforehand by the server admins. If you notice yourself or another member not gaining experience despite sending messages, you may want to check with the server admins if they are being restricted.
Alternative ways to provide experience to your server members.
1. Subscription perks
With the Monetize plugin, you can include XP Boosts.
The setting can be found in the Monetize plugin when creating or editing a plan.
2. Giveaways
Consider using our giveaway plugin, where you can have the reward be an experience. You can even pair it with other giveaways.
3. Server admins manually providing experience.
Perhaps you want to give out more experience to a member for doing a task or supporting you in other ways, or simply want to give your members experience it can be done with the premium command. /give-xp @Role Amount
