MEE6 includes various AI features such as Backstory responses, AI-generated content (via /write and /imagine), and interactive AI characters.
If you'd prefer to disable these features on your server, follow this guide step-by-step.
1. Turn Off AI Bot Backstory (Replies and @Mentions)
To prevent the bot from replying when pinged or replied to:
Go to MEE6 Dashboard > Your Server > Bot Personalizer > Backstory.
Toggle the Backstory switch off in the top right corner.
2. Disable AI Slash Commands (/write, /imagine, /characters)
Important: These steps must be done using Discord on a desktop.
The mobile Discord app does not support this functionality.
Go to your Discord Server Settings > Integrations > MEE6 (or your Personalized Bot).
Find each AI command in the list and click it: /write, /imagine and /characters.
Click "Add roles or members" > Select @everyone > Click Add.
Change permission from allowed (✅) to forbidden (❌) to remove access from all users.
Click Save to apply changes.
Note: Users with Administrator permissions will still have access to these commands. This cannot be overridden.
3. Remove AI Characters
To remove interactive AI characters from your server:
Go to MEE6 Dashboard > Your Server > AI Characters.
Click Installed characters (direct link) > Find the active character > Click the 3-dot menu > Select Kick from the server to permanently remove it.
You can also click on Edit settings to adjust channel permissions or disable response triggers.
Optional: Limit AI to Private Channels
If you prefer not to disable AI completely, you can restrict access to certain channels. Go to MEE6 Dashboard > Your Server > Bot Personalizer > Backstory.
Use the channel settings there to allow Backstory only in select channels.
Use Integrations to create channel-specific restrictions for each command.
By completing the steps above, you'll effectively disable:
Bot replies from Backstory
Slash commands like /write, /imagine, /characters
AI characters such as Batman or Deadpool
