Most MEE6 commands allow you to select role permissions on the MEE6 dashboard.
To set these permissions, go to MEE6 dashboard → your server → plugin of your choice → select the needed command and set the permissions:
Role permissions
- "Deny for all roles except" means that NO roles will be able to use the command, except for the ones you select.
- "Allow for all roles except" means that ALL roles will be able to use the command, except for the ones you select.
Channel permissions
- "Deny for all channels except" means that the command will be usable in NO channels, except for the ones you select.
- "Allow for all channels except" means that the command will be usable in ALL channels, except for the ones you select.
Examples
If you'd like to allow all users to use the command in any channel:
- Select "Allow for all roles except" and leave the role selector empty.
- Select "Allow for all channels except" and leave the channel selector empty.
If you'd like to allow only the @Moderator role to use the command only in the #commands channel:
- Select "Deny for all roles except" and select the @Moderator role.
- Select "Deny for all channels except" and select the #commands channel.
Troubleshooting
If the command permissions are set correctly, but the user with allowed roles cannot see/use the command in the allowed channel, check MEE6 permissions and Integrations settings (can be done only on a computer, not from a mobile Discord app):
- Right-click on the channel, press Edit channel, select Permissions, and then make sure that a role that MEE6 (or your Personalized Bot) has is there, and has ✅ for the View Channel and Send Messages permissions. You can skip this step if your bot has Administrator permission.
- Check Integrations: go to your server settings, select Integrations, select MEE6 (or your Personalized Bot), and then scroll until you find the needed command. Select it and make sure that the needed role and channel are there with ✅ by pressing the Add roles and members and Add channels buttons and setting ✅ for them.
Important: If you have a custom bot (Bot Personalizer feature), you must do it for your custom bot, not MEE6.
Important note: AI commands for /write, /imagine and /characters cannot be configured on the MEE6 dashboard, so they need to be configured directly in Integrations as explained above.
